7 Jan 2020 Do I need an Option 40 contract? Can I join the Regiment from the National Guard, Army Reserve, or another service? I submitted my packet to  Option 40 isn't a contract in and of itself, it's more like a “possible addition” to an already existing contract. Basically, it guarantees you the chance to try out for the   (Not even sure which BN was there.) Same position as you. Option 40 is a great contract, and what I'm going for but they are extremely hard to find. If you can't get option 40, i'd say just go for 68W/option 4 and then apply to go to SFAS later on.
