Fidelity said it would cut fees to $0 on online trades of U.S. stocks, eliminating a $4.95 charge for such trades. The Boston-based company’s fee changes also include exchange-traded funds and Transaction-fee funds at Fidelity normally cost $49.95. This charge is only applied to purchases. The exact commission a mutual fund carries is displayed on its information page on Fidelity's website. Fidelity requires no minimum deposit to open an account. To trade mutual funds, a $2,500 minimum deposit is needed, and for margin trading a $5,000 minimum deposit is required. Stock Trades: Online stock and ETF trades are $0. Broker assisted trades cost $32.95. There are no limits on total trade size or price. Sell orders are subject to an activity assessment fee (from $0.01 to $0.03 per $1,000 of principal).
